Course Description
Companies want to put their high-potential employees into management roles. Not all will be interested in a promotion, however. Talking someone into the role is one of the first mistakes a company could make.
An untrained manager can negatively affect business performance, employee job satisfaction, and overall organizational success.
Often we hear something like:
“I just don’t know how to manage managers or my huge team, and I’m afraid to come down too hard on them because I’m so new at this. This is my first time managing and I’m over my head.”
Due to their lack of training, as many as 60% of new managers fail to launch well and subsequently underperform within their first two years on the job.
Assuming both parties are up for the challenge, then the company must follow a process that trains them on both logical/technical skills as well as emotional intelligence.
This program will take a timeline approach to the first year of a new manager’s career:
- As with new employees, there is an abbreviated onboarding process.
- Then it’s a matter of moving from expectations to agreements with the new manager.
- The bottom line is it’s management’s role to put new managers in a position where they are capable of success.
When managers learn how to continually improve their performance, they will have a highly successful career, and you’ll have a very profitable company!
Don Phin, a leadership coach who has worked with over 6000 CEOs, and many of their teams, will discuss how you can successfully navigate this complex landscape and get the results you want!

Why you should attend
As per a Gallup Report, “Poorly managed work groups are on average 50% less productive and 44% less profitable than well-managed groups!”
These are crazy times, and managers are more challenged than ever. The quality of a company’s management and supervision team goes a long way to defining that company culture… and its bottom line.
When companies have untrained managers, they are relying solely on that person’s innate ability to manage. Not surprisingly, half of those managers will do a better job than the other half.
Interestingly, most people don’t want to be promoted to management! They don’t want the extra work, stress, and accountability associated with it.
However, of those brave enough to step up to the management plate, many technical and emotional factors will impact their success and the people they manage.
We are also facing the Great Quit, and if new managers aren’t handled properly, the people they manage will look for new opportunities elsewhere.
